January 13th, 2008: Katey Sagal in a new show, written by her husband:

Hunnam, Glenn and Sagal in FX's Anarchy Source: The Hollywood Reporter January 11, 2008
Charlie Hunnam, Scott Glenn and Katey Sagal are set to star in and Allen Coulter has signed on to direct the FX pilot "Sons of Anarchy." "Anarchy," previously known as "Forever Sam Crow," is a drama from "The Shield" writer/executive producer Kurt Sutter set in the world of motorcycle clubs. Fox 21 has come on board to co-produce the project with FX Productions.
"Anarchy," executive produced by Sutter, veteran feature producer Art Linson and his son and producing partner, John Linson, is a multigenerational family drama that centers on Jack (Hunnam), a man in his 20s who is faced with his own responsibilities as a new father and is unsure how he's going to balance that life with his involvement in the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club founded by his late father. Glenn will play Jack's stepfather, the president and patriarch of the club. Sagal will play Jack's mother and the matriarch of the club. The role was written for Sagal, who is married to Sutter.

Katey Sagal has a baby at 50! Katey Sagal, who played the silly housewife Peggy Bundy on Married...with Children, has a new baby! Her third child, Esmé Louise was born last week by surrogate.
"I'm too old to have my own baby, and I didn't wanna to hazard either my, or my new baby's health by bearing her. They implanted my inseminated oocyte into a surrogate mother", said Sagal. "I kept my eye on the whole pregnancy, and I was there when the baby was born. We often went to the medical examinations together, and in the last month the surrogate mom moved into our house."
Sagal's two other children, Sarah and Jackson found this whole thing a little bit strange; why is another woman bearing their sister? "I told them everything in so many words," said Sagal. "I told them that this is the only way for me to have a new baby."
Why was it so important to the actress, you ask? Because her 5-years-younger husband, Kurt Sutter wanted a common child so bad. After Sagal's gynocologist talked her out of an other pregnancy, the surrogate way was their only choice, though it cost a lot. "It'd have been worth much more at that moment, when my husband held our baby in his arms first." Said Sagal, "that's not impossible that we take on a new child soon enough!"

It's a brand new show by a hot young playwright called "Eight Days (Backwards)" and seems to be yet another idea based on MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, the old 1935 Kaufman play that inspired the Sondheim musical that made him decide to leave in the first place. There's 13 roles and seven actors so it looks like everybody will get a chance to do a couple of roles.

24-Apr-03: Katey Sagal Sees Movie Featuring Long Lost Uncle...

From Yahoo! News:

LOS ANGELES - Actress Katey Sagal and industry lawyer brother, David Sagal, watched the acting talents of their long lost uncle for the first time when they viewed his movie at the Russian International Film Festival.
"I can't believe how incredibly handsome he was," Katey Sagal, star of TV's "Married With Children," said after the film, "Gorky's Childhood." "It's amazing to see him so powerful on the big screen. And we all look like him."
David Sagal, general counsel for the Warner Bros. film division, and other Sagal family members watched Daniel Sagal for the first time Monday in the black and white 1938 film about everyday life in pre-Revolutionary Russia.
Their father, director Boris Sagal ("Omega Man," "Girlhappy"), left Russia when he was 7, leaving behind three brothers who were of military age. Boris never knew his brother, Daniel, survived. Daniel Sagal became one of Russia's most respected actors, festival director Stas Namin said Tuesday.
Boris was able to see his brother twice before Daniel Sagal died several months ago in Russia. They had an interpreter guide their conversations.
"We only met him for a short time in his late years," Katey Sagal said.
The festival began last week at the ArcLight Hollywood theaters and continues until Thursday. It includes Russian animated films, movie artwork, photography and film posters. It was organized by the Stas Namin Cultural Center in Russia, the American Film Institute and Seven Arts Productions

MARRIED... WITH CHILDREN REUNION AIRS FEBRUARY 16th!

From Hollywood Reporter:

Fox getting re-'Married'
Mon Jan 13,12:26 AM ET Add Entertainment - Hollywood Reporter to Yahoo!
By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- The Simpsons will get a surprise visit for their 300th show from old neighbors on the Fox schedule -- the Bundys.
Fox will air a one-hour "Married ... with Children" reunion special Feb. 16, the night "The Simpsons" marks its 300th episode milestone.

The first get-together of the cast of Fox's first hit series from Sony Picture Television will coincide with the Feb. 4 release of one of two "Married ... with Children: The Most Outrageous Episodes" DVDs by Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. Five episodes will be featured on each DVD, including the never-seen-on-TV original uncut version of the infamous "Lost Episode," which will be part of the first volume.
The entire cast of "Married ... with Children" gathered together in a replica of the Bundys' ramshackle living room for the taping of the reunion over the weekend, including stars Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and David Faustino.

The special will air in its old Sunday 9 p.m. start time. It will be part of what Fox entertainment president Gail Berman called "an extraordinary night of television." Revved up by the Daytona 500 in the afternoon, Fox's primetime lineup will feature a special episode of "King of the Hill" with Jennifer Aniston at 7 p.m. and three back-to-back original "Simpsons," including No. 300 at 8 p.m., leading into the "Married ... with Children" special.

" 'Married ... with Children' was an extraordinary television show for its time," Fox entertainment president Gail Berman said. "It broke all rules for TV family comedies, it put the network on the map. In tandem with 'The Simpsons,' it created a wonderful Sunday comedy block, and I think it's time to bring the Bundys and the Simpsons back together."
Rocket Science Laboratories (Fox's "Temptation Island", "Joe Millionaire") is producing the special with the company's Chris Cowan and Jean-Michel Michenaud executive producing.

" 'Married ... with Children' is one of the most important assets we've ever owned, and we couldn't be more proud of it," said Russ Krasnoff, president of programming and production at SPT. "When Fox said they wanted to do (the special), and it just happened to coincide with the timing of when we were going to do a DVD release, it seemed like a real good reason to do both to celebrate the show and as well to help market the DVD."
The special will feature references to the DVD, he said.

There have been two ideas -- of a "Married ... with Children" TV movie and a reunion special -- percolating at Fox for quite some time. While "the movie seemed more and more difficult as many of the cast have gone on to do other projects, and it was hard to get everyone's schedules together," the network was finally been able to get all of the actors together, Berman said.
"Married ... with Children" bowed out in 1997 after 10 years on the air.

8 Simple Rules... won the People's Choice Award for Favourite New Comedy Series.

David Garrison's chat transcript from December 2nd, with Farnsworth Alley, is finally up:

http://www.robertarmin.com/Garrison.htm

As I reported on alt.tv.mwc, the (interesting selection of) episodes on the MWC DVD appear to be:

0305 - A Dump of My Own
0308 - I'll See You In Court
0519 - You Better Shop Around (part 1)
0520 - You Better Shop Around (part 2)
0806 - No Chicken, No Check

As you can see, the site is undergoing a re-designing. I've added a few new articles.

The MWC DVD came be pre-ordered from Amazon now. The price has dropped to about USD$14.95 if you get it from places like Amazon, or USD$19.95 elsewhere. A big improvement from the original price of USD$24.95. The DVD can also be found at eBay.

Amanda is in a new film. Give or Take an Inch will be released in January 2003.

Christina is on the cover of December's MAXIM magazine and January's SELF magazine.

MWC REUNION NEWS: It looks very promising. 3 cast members so far have more or less confirmed it. Sometime "this season" (meaning anytime from now until about May) a Married with Children reunion is in the works. Hopefully.
David Garrison confirmed it during an online chat with Fynsworth Alley

Ted McGinley will be appearing in a new show, too!
Charlie Lawrence stars Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf, and will begin on CBS sometime in March next year.

Site news: Added information about It's Your Move to the cast database.

More on the DVD front: (from http://www.TVShowsOnDVD.com/)

A Taste of the Bundy's - 11/11/2002
While Columbia declines to respond to rumors of a May '03 release for season sets, they instead today officially announced "Married...With Children: The Most Outrageous Episode! Volume #1".
At a running time of 114 minutes, this single-disc release will have about 4 or 5 episodes from the 11-year-long series. No details have been offered yet, but the release will feature Dolby Stereo sound, and will have a suggested price of $19.95.

At the moment, the extra features on the DVD consist of The Sweetest Thing trailer and a Salute to Sinatra.

Pictures from Christina's Friends episode are up here (from NBC Media Village)

Aside from Friends, Christina Applegate can also soon be seen in three new movies: Surving Christmas with Ben Affleck, Grand Theft Parsons with Johnny Knoxville and Wonderland with Val Kilmer; all due out this year.

Some promising DVD news:
(From http://www.TVShowsOnDVD.com)
MWC fans, rejoice! The news you've been waiting to hear...in a recent Video Store Magazine article about upcoming TV on DVD releases, Columbia TriStar said they will be bringing "Married... with Children" to DVD. Unfortunately no release date was given, but at least we know the studio has plans to release the series on DVD.

Christina Applegate will make a guest appearance on Friends.
From Variety ... The former star of NBC comedy "Jesse" has inked to guest on the Thanksgiving episode of "Friends." She has been cast as the sister of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston).

Ed O'Neill will now be playing the role of Joe Friday in the new Dragnet series with his Dutch co-star Ethan Embry; on ABC.

From Hollywood Reporter:
O'Neill wears 'Dragnet' badge By Nellie Andreeva LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter)
--- Veteran Ed O'Neill has stepped in to play Joe Friday in Dick Wolf's remake of "Dragnet" for ABC and Universal Network Television. He was tapped to play the role -- very suitably -- on Friday, replacing Danny Huston, who was let go from the midseason cop series earlier last week (HR 10/2). Ethan Embry will continue as Friday's partner, Frank Smith. Production, which was shut down Tuesday, is set to resume Friday, and the show is on track for its scheduled January premiere. "I'm delighted that Ed will be playing Joe Friday on 'Dragnet,' " Wolf said. "Ed and I have been trying to find something to do together for several years, and I believe this will be a great meld of actor and material." In the original series, Friday was embodied by "Dragnet" creator and star Jack Webb. Even though O'Neill is 16 years older than Huston, the recasting is not expected to change the tone of the series. "We think Ed O'Neill is a fantastic actor; he's got gravitas and weight, he's got a very strong presence, and you can see him in this role as a cop in Los Angeles," ABC senior vp drama development Thom Sherman said. As for the partnering of O'Neill with Embry, "I think they'll have a great chemistry together," he said. "Dragnet" reunites O'Neill and Embry, who toplined the 1991 feature "Dutch." O'Neill, best known for his role as the crude, middle-class icon Al Bundy in Fox's dark comedy "Married ... With Children," most recently starred on "Big Apple," David Milch's cop drama for CBS. His feature credits also include "The Spanish Prisoner" and "The Bone Collector." O'Neill is repped by ICM and manager Marc Gurvitz.
