The Bundy kids and dog food?

Throw watching the series i notice several times the bundy kids eats dog food! I keep wondering what is it the actors really eats, i doubt it's dog food, but who knows

I'm quite sure that they didn't eat dog food
I'm not even sure if they ate anything or just pretended to do so - I'd have to check the dvds for that.
