Absolutely,why not? I think its hilarious - simple plot and its really funny. It brilliantly sets the scene for the entire concept of the show IMO.

For me Seasons 1-5 are much better than the later stuff, of course I still like the later stuff but I'm way more into the early episodes. I think there must have been a big change in the writing staff, the later seasons have too many lame network TV, Joey Buttafuoco etc gags, in general, I don't find those episodes as funny.

The early wiriting is a lot more plot/character driven I much perfer this.

I too am a fan of the pilot!
They probably spent more time writing it than any other episode, and it feels very polished.

I too like the pilot a lot. It's not heavy on plot, so it sets up the characters - and the series - quite nicely.

excellent point, ive read many times about shows that became successful how the show creators did a scary number of rewrites on the pilot script just to get it considered by the network execs. no doubt this could well have been the case with MWC

And nothing from season 5, but one from season 6.
Very interesting to see where people's preferences lie.

Route 666 was on 4 of the lists in this thread.
The pilot episode, The House that Peg Lost, and Hot off the Grill were on 3 of the lists
Who’ll stop the rain, Just a little off the top, The goodbye girl, Oldies but young uns, Life’s a beach, But I didn’t shoot the deputy, The movie show, and For whom the bells were on 2 of the lists

Does anyone have that *one* all-time favourite episode? Or is it too impossible to have just one?

It is really impossible for me to have "one" (or even 10) favorite episodes, but if I was forced to name one I would probably say All Night Security Dude.

Undoubtedly the most revered episode of MwC is You Better Shop Around 1 & 2
