Post by blackgloves » Tue Feb 21, 2006 11:04 pm

ANyone know if that was a real school they used or a prop for the show?

If it was a real school, anyone know which one or where its located?

I doubt it was a real school, few sitcoms shoot scenes on real locations. It wouldn't be too tricky to create a set that's supposed to be a school.

Yeah, and the only other Polk High is some elementary school in Virginia.

So at least there is a school with that name? Wow, talk about a great conversation-starter with fellow fans of the show if you've gone to that school!

Yeah, but I don't think 10-year olds know who is Al Bundy (yet) :)

No but later on in the future they would ;)

And hey! I was a big fan of MWC when I was 10.

I'm actually kind of surprised there is only one real school named after James K. Polk. He was president when America took a lot of territory form Mexico. I would kind of think that there'd be schools all over the Southwest named for him.

I'm still trying to find out if Foodies was a real store. But I've watched it a few times very closely and now I'm suspecting it wasn't.

You mean you think they shot those scenes in an actual store, or if the store/franchise Foodies really exist? Either way I think it's made up. Catchy name nonetheless!

Well, I've actually already started another thread about this.
http://www.albundy.net/php/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=652

Basically I wanted to know if they filmed it in a real supermarket. On that thread I put down some of my conclusions. If it was real I was gonna go there. Those episodes are in my personal top 10.

Oh ok, I'll check it out. I also rate those episodes very high, they've always been favorites of mine.

Foodies is most likely a fake store. There's a lot of real merchandise inside, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Ruffles and other kinds of stuff, but the whole set is in a studio. It's not hard to do this.

Agreed, Seinfeld were masters of creating sets that looked nothing like sets. The street-scenes for an example is not shot outside, it's a set and were perfectly made.

You know the restaurant in Seinfeld is real. I've been there.

Yeah of course I know that, and the bar in Cheers really exists too. But those are just recreational sets.

You're still up Axel? Geez what time is it over there? Yes, but if you go into Cheers in Boston (good chicken strips) its nothing like the set. The restaurant on Seinfeld looks like the one on TV. Wasn't the show filmed there? Maybe it wasn't.
