Katey Sagal starred in this sitcom, taking over as the lead character after John Ritter died.
By its third season, they tried a lot of bizarre ideas to keep the show going. One was a "Freaky Friday" episode. Another was where Cate (Sagal) caught up with an old schoolmate, played by Ed O'Neill.
Familiarity with their roles on Married...with Children makes this episode
that much more bizarre.

I loved 8 Simple Rules, thought it was really good. I was surprised that they kept going after Ritter died, but I really liked the show after that, too. David Spade and James Garner were great additions to the cast. Loved the episode where Ed showed up as well, but was pissed that they didn't cheer when he did.
Let's not forget the hottest girl currently on TV got her big break with this show:

R.I.P. Ron Leavitt

I have a soft spot for 8SR. Bringing in James Garner was brilliant.
Guess which episode is my favourite? The one with TWO Bundys, of course!

It really is. It was handled well though, especially given the circumstances. It's so...
real.

I loved this series too. I had really liked Chance of a Lifetime, the movie KS had done with John Ritter before and looked forward to this series. Does anyone know if they ever plan to release the last season on DVD? It doesn't seem like it since it's been years.
