R.I.P. Spare Tire Dixon (Bubba Smith)

Post by Shoe Dick » Thu Aug 04, 2011 4:36 pm

I'm sad to be the one to announce that legendary footballer and actor Bubba Smith has died  I loved him whenever he appeared on MWC, he was in what could be my all-time favorite episode All-Nite Security Dude. He also played one of my favorite characters in films growing up, as Hightower in the Police Academy movies.

Charles 'Bubba' Smith was found dead in his Los Angeles home today. The 66-year-old actor and former American Football star was best known for his role as Moses Hightower in the hit comedy movie series Police Academy.

According to TMZ, police were called to his home in the Baldwin Hills area around 1pm this afternoon local time. When they arrived, the found the star already deceased. It appeared that he died of natural causes although the coroner is investigating.

Bubba, as he was affectionately known, began his career as a defensive end in the National Football league, playing for the Baltimore Colts in 1967. He played in the NFL for nine seasons before becoming an actor in the early 1970s.

He landed the role of Cadet Moses Hightower in Police Academy in 1984 and appeared in all but one of the seven sequels. He also had several small TV roles including in Half Nelson and Married With Children.

Appreciation!

And then he showed up on Married With Children, as Al Bundy's nemesis, "Spare Tire Dixon." Yes, I know it's Married With Children, but you're going to laugh at this scene, I think. And then, I swear, you might cry a little.

That didn't sound too respectful of the show :(

Not the only PA star that died early :

David "Tackleberry" Graf , age 51 (for a few yrs I never knew he died......he wasnt a big celeb such no mention in media that I saw)

Debralou or Debralee Harris (Facklers wife)

House (I believe he had to amputate both his legs , poor guy was only like 45)

:(
