Does anybody know why Luke left the show after 7 episodes? He mentions his participation on his website. http://www.ritchshydner.com/ But he gives no reason for his departure. I wonder if he thought it wouldn't last or if he got another gig... I e-mailed him but no response to my question.

I guess they just wrote him off like with Seven, can't be sure though. His character was not that important anyway. Not exactly like when Steve left.

EDIT: I just emailed him asking the same question, I hope I will get a response. Thanks for the link!

Hi guys,

Sorry that this has never been responeded to. I came across this forum from someone that clicked on the link in this thread and noticed the unanswered question.

Ritch's role as "Luke Ventura" was abandoned after what he says was a change in direction for the show. They decided to focus more on Kelly than a co-worker of Al's.

From MWC Ritch went on to be a writer for other TV shows, wrote for Blue Collar TV and writing material for other comedians to co-authoring a book with Mark Schiff (I Killed: True Stories of the Raod From America's Top Comics).

Hope this helped answer the question.

Thank you for clearing that up for us here at the forum Ron. It is deeply appreciated.

Thanks Ron, that's the kind of answer I was looking for. I'm sorry Ritch's role got sidelined but hey, at least he got to appear on the greatest tv show in history!

My pleasure...I'm glad I could help. Don't feel too bad for Ritch, he went on to write for "Roseanne" after MWC and helped make that show what it was. Everything happens the way it's supposed to in life and Ritch is an incredibly talented performer as well as a writer and is a "legend" in his field.

When I told him about this website and thread he was flattered to know anyone even noticed him or cared about his part.

Personally I loved the show too and am impressed that it had/has such a global following.

Thanks again,
Ron

I dunno, I'm glad he left when he did. But it did give us Jerry Hall and her fabulous hair.

At least they gave his narcisistic characteristics to Bud! :P

There is a picture of Luke on the cover of "Shoe News" magazine in a much later episode.
